Blair MacKinnon

I have had thirty years experience in various Provincial Government departments including extensive experience in primary health care as Project Coordinator for numerous innovative programs with Primary Care Networks. I also have experience facilitating focus groups and conducting customer satisfaction surveys. Following my retirement in 2012, I was a HealthCare consultant with Towards Optimized practice with the Alberta Medical Association providing communications expertise and managing a province-wide screening program. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from St. Francis Xavier University, Nova Scotia.

Currently my husband and I are retired and we enjoy travelling the world, often to Spanish speaking countries. I speak passable Spanish and my husband is French which makes travel much easier !! As a gay senior, I realized that 2SLGBTQ+ seniors now face the horrible prospect of having to go back into the closet after being “out” for years when they enter some seniors housing. Wanting to make a contribution to my community, I joined Edmonton Pride Seniors Group in 2017 to develop LGBTQ2S+ friendly safe, inclusive housing for our community. Over the years I have worked extensively on our safe, inclusive housing project including writing our 2020 survey report, managing our E-Newsletter, developing our Prospectus.  I am a member of EPSGS Board of Directors.
